MICHAEL PATRICK McCartney born in Ireland where and when not known, married
Cathrine McNulty also from Ireland born where and when not known.
Children: Not all known. What is known follows;
Div.1a Richard Joseph born 15 Oct. 1845 Ireland, died 7 Apr. 1926 widowed
Mt. Calvery Cemetary Galion, Ohio. Listed retired meatcutter
Div.1b Michael born 1847 Ireland - according 1850 census with Sylvanus
Griffith family Huron Co. Ohio
Conflicting information here concerning Cathrine whom supposedly contracted
cholera on board ship and died 9 days later. How then was EDWARD born in
Ohio?
Div.1c EDWARD ANDREW born 15 Apr. 1849 Milan,Ohio according to death cert.
Died 25 Feb. 1919 Mt. Calvery Cemetary Galion. A carpenter. Married Margaret
Trautman 5 Nov. 1874 Crawford Co.
For some reason the children were put to foster homes, Michael was adopted by a family named Griffith in Huron Co. Ohio then mentioned in a letter to reside in Kenosha Wisconsin (Pauline Moyer's letter dated 26 May 1977). Richard lived in Toledo, with whom is not mentioned then lived with Pauline's family in the 1920's which I presume is how he came to die and be buried in Galion. EDWARD ANDREW was taken by a family named McMahon from the Shelby Settlement. He suffered a hard and unhappy childhood, being the family that took him in made him work very hard. He came to Crestline when he was about 20 years old. Applied for marriage license on 10 Oct. 1874 then married Margaret Troutman (Trautman) on 5 Nov. 1874 in Crawford Co. by Edward Mears a Catholic priest.
