The Webmaster
This site is owned, designed, coded and maintained by George McCartney. It's main theme is the genealogy of his branch of the McCartney clan. George and his oldest son, Michael, have been researching the family line for over ten years.
While the family originated in Ireland, George was born and lives in the United States. Through a quirk of fate, Michael, though born in the US, now lives in the United Kingdom.
George has over forty years experience with large business systems in design, analysis and programming. During that time, he has designed, written and documented a great number of systems. He also developed and taught computer programming techniques for the companies he worked for.
Since retiring several years ago, he has taken courses in HTML from the HTML Writers Guild and is self-taught in XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. He has designed and written four websites and currently maintains three of them; one genealogical, one historical and one commercial.
He is also a member of the Association for Positive Ethical eXchange (APEX) and the United Website Award Givers (UWSAG) Seal of Approval (SOA) program.
George is an amateur magician and a Life Member of the Society of American Magicians. He is an active member and Past-President of the Society's originating chapter, Parent Assembly #1, in New York City.
Beyond web design, researching his family genealogy and magic, his other interests are history, reading, listening to classical music, and, especially playing with his grandchildren.
Many thanks to Jenny Maass for creating the wizard avatar.
George is also an evaluator for Denny Lancaster's Talking Hands Website Awards program and Jenny Maas' The Mond Award. Many thanks to Denny Lancaster and Jenny Maass for the evaluator graphics above.
