We at geomacc.com are proud to be members and/or supporters of the following organizations and the policies they espouse. Each emblem is a link to the organization's website. Please visit them.
United Web Site Award Givers
The United Website Award Givers organization promotes ethical behavior between award givers and award seekers. As they say in the SOA Nominee Criteria, “The purpose of this program is not to evaluate sites, but those who own them.” I can not attempt to describe this program as well as they have done on their home page:
"United Web Site Award Givers is a concept which began in 2001, whereby those who offer website awards and the web site owner or designer seeking an award could be part of the same community. This joint effort for excellence in web design has allowed for a large group of men and women who have devoted a great deal of their time for superior web design in all aspects. … Together, we form a community of web design connoisseurs with a common goal of personal and professional excellence."
I am proud to have been accepted as a member of the SOA program.
Talking Hands Website Award Program
The Talking Hands Website Award was established in 1986. The purpose of the
award, in their own words, is:
... to reward web site authors, who through their creative
excellence provide a web site which teaches, contains teaching elements in
sufficient detail, and otherwise leaves a visitor with something of
significant value after returning to their normal daily activities, which will
enable them to be better citizens of the world."
George McCartney, the webmaster of McCartney's Journeys, has been elected as an evaluator for this wonderful award. He has accepted the position and looks forward to seeing some really interesting sites.
Mond (Moon) Award Program
The Mond (Moon) Award is owned by Jenny Maass from Linz on the Danube, Austria. The award was established to reward web site authors who have displayed creativity in developing websites that are impressive and beautiful, with interesting or exceptional themes.
Jenny has graciously asked George, the webmaster of McCartney's Journeys, to be an evaluator for this wonderful award. He has accepted the position and looks forward to seeing a great many interesting sites.
Association for Positive Ethical eXchange
This organizaton promotes ethical behavior on the web. They exist "to promote the ethical exchange of all ideas, goods or services where the Internet is used for the exchange."
Again, we are proud of our membership in this great effort.
RAU Awards Institute
Though McCartney's Journeys does not have an awards program, the site has earned a number of awards. The awards program webmasters work hard and long hours to run their programs. Because of their dedication and their generous awards to our site, we support any organization that is there to help them. The RAU Awards Institute is such an organization. We will defer to their own description of their mission.
"RAU Awards Institute™ does not give out awards, nor does it rate or certify awards programs or webmasters. It is intended as an educational resource for those who are interested in or are just getting started with building a web awards program, as well as a resource for those who are looking to improve the program they already have. The Institute has discussions and articles on the various aspects of creating and maintaining an awards program and a web site, as well as links to valuable resources for the awards webmaster."
Unfortunately, this site has closed. It is sad to see such a great idea come to a halt. Its goals were exemplary. We will continue to list it here in hope that someone will resurrect it one day.
